NJ.com has chosen Cranford as the top downtown in New Jersey, beating out rival Westfield for the second year in a row.
CRANFORD, NJ – For the second time in as many years, Cranford has been recognized for its stellar downtown, according to NJ.com.
The report noted that throughout this year’s competition, about 85,000 votes were cast for downtowns across the state and Cranford won the final round with about 35 percent of the vote over four other finalists: Morristown, Westfield, Pitman and Mount Holly.
This is not the only time Cranford’s Downtown has garnered attention. Last year they were awarded 2018’s Great Downtown by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association.
According to the APANJ website, Cranford’s downtown is the heartbeat that feeds all its residents and visitors. Cranford’s train station is the centerpiece of downtown and is the engine that brought population growth, investment, created its network and built its architecture.
For their part, the NJ.com story called attention to businesses like Ambeli Greek Taverna, which offers authentic Greek fare, the Porch Salon and the Kilkenny House, an Irish pub .It also mentioned Cranford Hotel, the Cranford Theatre and Track5 Coffee.
